The famous Granada ITV studios are situated near to the centre of the city. They occupy a large site and many national and local ITV1 programmes are produced here. The site includes the permanent Coronation Street set that has become famous the world over.

Granada Television has long been one of the largest and most influential of the independent television companies, producing well known and loved shows like "The Royle Family", "Mrs Merton", "Cracker", "Brideshead Revisited", "Sherlock Holmes", "City Central" and, of course, "Coronation Street". It produces programmes for both the ITV network and the BBC.
